This is the first snippet of many to come i hope. Working with WordPress i had already noticed that sometimes, the page template drop down menu in the admin would not show up. I’ve tried different solutions googled around and was ok with this so far. Until today i had the problem again. Here is how i used to write the template definition at the top of my pages:

That would be all the arguments on a single line. I then did a quick test by changing the disposition to this:

And i got the page showing up in the admin. Did a quick test with another one that wasn’t showing and bam, working too. So it would have to be tested a bit more but it seems to help.

Out of interest why would this fix it? Does PHP care about line breaks? I’m having the same problem. The template won’t show up in the dropdown. Iv tried switching themes and editing the first few line breaks, but nothing works.

    • As far as i can remember (this post’s pretty old) in some way yes it did matter as it allowed me to actually get my template to show up. But i cant say that nowadays it’d work with the latest (4.2.2) Wp.

About

So, i'm a developer from France currently living in Rio de Janeiro. I do code for the front-end side of the web with things like javascript, html, css, preprocessors, tasks runners, version control, frameworks, tdd, CI, Wordpress and others.

I do speak english, portuguese and french, read tons of books, love to play on a wake, bmx and snowboard and would like to travel to the Karakoram range, Tierra del Fuego and Mongolia.

I do appreciate you stopping by and admit i did abuse of the auxiliary verb do in this about.
